IMBA Congress 10.-11- November 2007 in Birmingham- Cannock, Great Britain

For the yearly two days meeting, the delegates of the 9 different countries, which are members of the IMBA, were guests in Birmingham-Cannock, England. Host was the English federation AMCA (Amateur Motor Cycle Association) who did not only have its 75 years anniversary but also celebrated the 40 years anniversary of the chairman Don Green.
The chairman of the IMBA, Han Roeten, opened up the congress looking back satisfied to the season 2007.
On the schedule there were some points which were worked out well. Also the changes in the regulations were accepted very fast by the members.
So one spend some time to create a European Championship in the Quad-Class which was so far only tested in the last two years. Number of participants, dates and place and time had to be worked out. There is some interest of the IMBA federations to make more events for other classes, too. Some federations already made some experiences with single events in SuperMoto, Classic, Freestyle-Bike-Ride, Hillclimbing and scooter-races. One would like to fasten the cooperation.
Although not all federations offer all classes, one would like to bring all the federations together who would like to work together on that.
It was a lot of work for the sportsleader Toon Klomp to do the schedule for 2008, because there were a lot date requests and some events after changing at the same date. Sometimes the federations had to talk to their regional promoters, to finally get a good schedule done.
The IMBA schedule is temporary ready and will be fixed definitely within the next 30 days.
As a new member of the IMBA committee Pascal Schoofs (Belgium) was proposed and voted unanimously. Pascal Schoofs, who himself is very close to the Motorsport (he was an active racer for 15 years) will be part of the 5 man committee for the next 3 years.
At the end of the congress everybody was satisfied about the good meeting and there was a date fixed for the next congress in 2008, in Cuijk, the Netherlands (organisation: MON, Motorsport Organisatie Nederland) at the 08.-09. November 2008.
