“Everything under English control!” Clinton Barrs is the winner of the day at the home-grand-prix. He shared the podium with his fellow-countrymen Jamie Powell and Rick Du`Feu.

Almost nobody had the chance to break the British dominance. In the first heat it was Christoph Dedcamps (BE) who was able to get into the leading group of 6 British drivers. He finished the race on rank 3. After the winner Jamie Powell and Rick Du`Feu. The next 4 rankings were controlled by the English guys Charlie Hollis, Clinton Barrs, Danny Brekeley and Simon Lane. The officiating European Champion Frank Jansen-Teitz fell twice and after his second drop he had problems to start his Yamaha again. By that he lost his 9. rank and fell back to grade 16. Thomas Lhotsky (CZ) finished the race with rank 8 and on rank 9 there was the first Dutch guy, Erwin Robins.

In the second heat it was not different. This time it was Clinton Barrs who won the start and kept the first position until the end of the race. Behind him there were 4 more English guys and Frank Jansen-Teitz. He saw the back wheel of Christoph Decamps (BE) first, before Christoph had problems with his brakes and fell over. He became the 11. in the end. Thomas Lhotsky finished the race on rank 8 in front of Michael Bittner from Denmark and Jeossef Furar (CZ).

To go to England and do not talk about the weather is almost as going to Venice without having sitting in a gondola. On Saturday everybody arrived in the rain and in the paddock it was not possible to get to any place without a tractor. The course was still ok, although it already rained since two weeks. Because the course is hillside in many parts it was prepared great and the grass ground was handy. With a length of almost 2,5 km it was the longest course of the European championship open-class.
Sunday the dark clouds were pushed away by the strong wind so some sun blazes came through. Because of that, the driver introduction and the race took place in best weather conditions. Willi Jütten, IMBA secretary promised that already at the team-leader-meeting.
